FLOODBATH

The ducks enjoy the flood
But the rats do not
So they crawl out of holes
And caves
To find higher ground
dryer ground
Places of visibility,rescue
And self preservation

But water runs quickly
off the back of each duck
Yet it soaks the rodent
thoroughly
From bottom up
In this stagnation

Where the needy
Must run through
wet drawers for
some attention
Whilst the ducks
spread their wings
and fly to higher ground
Even stretch their legs
To sprint to dryer ground

And now all can recall
This one thing,
for sure
Though the ducks duck
The Ducks
Were in the waters
all along
