RUBBLE

Barriers and bridges
have a unique way
of standing between
rivers,roadways,highways
and people

Concepts and notions
have a queer way
of standing between
races, classes, ages
and progress

A  bridge
fell down over decades
and created
a barrier
to passage
and progress

classism,racism
public spending
with no transparency
and injustice
without redress

Now  silent actors
toss rocks to fortify
the Beetham barrier
which spans T&T

and obstructs highways
to advancement
and productivity

but Beetham barriers
and Broken Bridges
share one commonality

Evidence
of breakdown

WITHOUT ASKING

At first what seemed amusing
Now is a bit confusing
Blind rhetoric,fears
insistence and reasoning,
All without asking!

You have made a decision.Without asking
You have answered a question.Without asking
You have defined a situation, erroneously
Without asking, about my hair

You read verses.Without asking
You understood. Without differentiating
The muse from the matter
The experience from the writer
The imagination from fact
And Sugz without asking
you just react

And at first what seemed amusing
Now is a bit confusing
Blind rhetoric,fears
insistence and reasoning,
All without asking!

PAPER HEIGHTS

where  clouds
and sunshine play
hide and seek
shrewd ideas ascend
as daring minds peruse
facts and fiction
and  like uncaged birds
transcend
To a point where
minds are free
to think infinite thoughts
of focused escalations
where deep revelations
of identity finds continuity
only in  paper backs

PAPI SHOW

You put on your mask face, your coat and your hat,
I find that impressive Baby!
I like that!
You put on your sweet voice with baritone and smiles
This thing looks like it would last
longer that a while!
You seem weak, vulnerable, humble and open
I take out my popcorn and applaud!
So why undress without warning darling,
And expect me to love this fraud?
You did not show me him in the beginning
This stranger you carry on board!
Look,I am willing to pretend this never happened!
If you will just put on your act again!

CONTENDERS

Did you kiss Ego this morning?
Did you whisper in its air?
Did you squeeze it tightly, Honey,
When I was not there?
Did you smile while applauded,
For your vengeful heart?
Did you retell those quests,
Of unforgiveness from the start?
Did you enjoy its odor?
Did you taste its hair?
Did you stay up all night with Ego
Or remove its underwear?
Does Ego’s eyes have color?
Can Ego’s lips pout?
Does it embrace you daily
And erase your every doubt?

I came back because I love you
I returned because I care
You cried and called so much,
Begging  when I was not there!
So I became quite sorry
But that damn  Ego tells  you lies!
It was not all about the  money
Oh! The way you touch my thighs!

Well, go on and hate this Empress!
Go on and beat me with your tongue!
Soon we will be even, Honey
Point proven to all around!
This second chance is like a stage
For you and  Ego to frolic on
But do not cry or call tomorrow!
And  do not miss me when I’m gone!

X and Y

She smiled with her eyes,
And never understood
The deep contour lines of hurt
Mapped across his face
And the gigantic footprints of love
Brutally stomped through his heart
Was a little more than she could trace
She smiled with her eyes,
But never understood
The distances of questions which made mileage
From present to future, in his eyes
And the silent whimpering he made,
Counting, that entire which he gave
And just wondering why
She smiled with her eyes,
And never understood
Why he demanded returns
For how could she match his dime?
From check list to cheque stubs,
When all she wanted was time
And someone who understood her
